Dr. Alan Cheung Community Leadership Scholarship Program
We are no longer accepting application for this year’s scholarship. Please check back in February 2019.
The Chinese American Parents Association of Montgomery County is proud to announce the Dr. Alan Cheung Scholarship Fund.
There is a
saying, “To lead, is to serve.” A great leader is someone who leads by serving their community from a very young age. In our local
Montgomery County, with a more than 15% population as Asian American population, there is a great need to cultivate our future generations to be leaders at the community, state, and national level.
Dr. Cheung was the first Asian American on the Montgomery County Public School Board, where he served from 1990 to 1998. He is a persistent advocator of Chinese culture and has established Chinese language immersion programs in multiple elementary schools in Montgomery County. He is one of the founders and board members of the American Chinese Association of Physicians-Mid Atlantic Charter (ACAP-MAC) and a Special Advisor to the Chinese American Parents Association of Montgomery County (CAPA-MC).
Dr. Alan Cheung’s achievements make him widely recognized as a dedicated community leader. He is an inspirational role model for young Chinese generations to follow to make greater contributions to our community. By establishing this Community Leadership Scholarship, we encourage, foster and recognize the contribution of dedicated youth individuals and youth groups.
