Dr. Alan Cheung Community Leadership Scholarship Program (2022)
We are proud to announce the 2022 Dr. Alan Cheung Community Leadership Scholarship program.
Dr. Cheung was born in Hong Kong. He came to the United States to study when he was 18 years old. He was the first Asian American on the Montgomery County Public School Board, where he served from 1990 to 1998. He is a persistent advocator of Chinese culture and has established Chinese language immersion programs in multiple elementary schools in Montgomery County. He is one of the founders and board members of the American Chinese Association of Physicians-Mid Atlantic Charter (ACAP-MAC) and a Special Advisor to the CAPA-MC. Dr. Cheung’s achievements make him widely recognized as a dedicated community leader. He is an inspirational role model for young Chinese generations to follow to make greater contributions to our community.
This community leadership scholarship encourages, fosters and recognizes the contribution of dedicated youth individuals and youth groups to community services.
This scholarship was first offered in 2018. This year, we expect to offer 10 individual scholarship awards and 3 group scholarship awards.
